Fleece from the Suri alpaca is so soft and versatile that people in the Andes of South America, where the animals are native, have been known to use it as currency throughout their history. Once shaved and processed, Suri fibers are as soft as cashmere, as lustrous as silk, and as warm as wool.

Suri is an ancient fiber prized for a combination of elegant and functional traits: luster, drape, softness,  natural color (nearly two dozen, actually), ease of dyeing, and versatility. It can be used as a fiber for knitting, crocheting, weaving, and felting any variety of luxury products. In addition, Suri fibers are hypoallergenic and flame resistant!
